WHAT EXERCISE MEANS AT CEDAR SPRINGS
Our exercise program at Cedar Springs is simple, rejuvenative and great for reducing stress.

Through Qigong, breathing exercises, The 5 Tibetan's Rites, walking and circuit training, we inspire movement that best suits your body. Designed to increase health and well being, the exercises described below are offered at our facility:

Rebounding for a healthy Lymphatic System
Rebounding is an effective exercise to reduce body fat; firm your arms, legs, thighs, abdomen, hips; increase agility; strengthen muscles and has an aerobic effect on your cardio-respiratory system. People who rebound find they are able to work longer, sleep better, and feel less tense and nervous.

The effect is not just psychological, because the action of bouncing up and down against gravity effectively stimulates the lymphatic system without trauma to the musculoskeletal system. This unique discovery is central to the reasons Rebounding has become one of the most beneficial forms of exercise ever developed.

Qigong for Healing through Breath and Movement
Qigong (or ch'i kung) is an internal Chinese meditative practice, which uses slow graceful movements and controlled breathing to promote the circulation of qi within the human body to enhance overall health. In its simplest form, the Chinese character for qi, in qigong, mean air, breath, or "life force". Gong means work, so qigong is therefore the practice of "working" with ones "life force".

We practice a form of Qigong during which we flow through 24 postures, involving all parts of the body.

Participants have found this form of exercise to be rejuvenative and quite calming.

Circuit Training for Strength and Cardiovascular Fitness
Circuit training has been traditionally used as an effective way to develop strength and cardiovascular fitness. Circuit classes at Cedar Springs are wonderful for anyone, even non-athletes because we use a variety of body weight resisting exercises along with simple props (big balls, medicine balls, tubing, weights, rollers).

The Five Tibetan Rites for Healing, Rejuvenation, and Longevity
This program is often described as a modified yoga program. Simply put, yoga is a science that unites the body, mind and spirit. Today this is often called Mind/ Body Healing. Some believe that yoga was brought to Tibet from India in the 11th or 12th century and that Tibetan monks over time modified these exercises and developed an effective program of exercises that western society now calls the "Five Tibetan Rites".

These exercises stretch muscles you haven't felt in years so we will approach them gently with increasing repetitions each day along with providing alternate exercises for all 5 rites.
